The Sonic Resonance Method and the Impulse Excitation Technique: A Comparison Study

In this study, resonant frequencies of flexurally vibrating samples were measured using the sonic method (SRM) and impulse excitation technique (IET) to assess equivalency these two methods. Samples made from different materials with shapes (prism rectangular cross-section cylinder circular cross-section). The mean values standard deviations compared t-test F-test. tests showed an both methods in measuring frequency. differences between SRM IET not significant. Graphically, relationship is a line slope 0.9993 ≈ 1.
